Chris Tomkins (that's me) is an editor, writer, director,
producer, musician, mobile content developer, photographer
and other stuff.
Here's a brief description of what I'm doing at the moment.
GLOBAL ANT (New Media. Film. TV. Mobile.)
Liam Cody and I have been writing
and performing comedy on stage, tv, radio and the
internet for years under "The Gorskys". Global Ant is
the umbrella company that produces not only Australias
leading independent humour site, GORSKYS.COMedy, but also other
entertainment such as "The Adventures of Terrence and
Spider: Professional Bouncers" for the Comedy Channel.
Recently we have produced various bits and pieces for the
mobile space, including callertones for Telstra and
Earl The Phone Monkey video
ringtones which will be distributed world-wide under
the export navigator scheme.
READY TO ROLL PRODUCTIONS (Corporate
Communications)
I'm currently directing and editing "corporate
communications with a difference" with Geoff Paine and
Carolyn Masel in our partnership known as Ready To Roll. We make videos that
are interesting and accessible have created videos
ranging from musicals set in Bunnings to cop dramas,
mockumentaries and spy films.
See my video showreel to see some
examples.
MAN BITES GOD (The Band - drums, vocals)
I have been playing with Man Bites God since
the band's formation in 2001 along with James Hazelden
(from The Drowning Hitlers) and Mark Woodward (from The
Weekend People). We have released 3 singles and 2 albums
and are currently working on our third release.
We have toured Australia on numerous occasions and played
at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2004.
I have made a few music videos for the band, which can be
seen in the video showreel.
PHOTOGRAPHY
I'm no professional, but I like to shoot stuff, primarily
candid stuff. I mainly post my favourite images up on my
gallery at deviantart and flickr.
WRITING
I'm currently working on too many projects at once, but
there are three that are top of my mind at the moment.
The first is a feature, a crime comedy about a murderer who
is killing comedy fans based on the punchlines of jokes.
The second is a short film about two burglars who can't
decide what to steal. The third is a tv comedy series about
an ex-Big Brother inmate who'd do anything to stay famous.
Sadly, the comedy series I was developing based around a
fictional government department engaged to control the spin
on the war on terror looks like it will never be made.
